This is going to be my first write-up on the NFL Fantasy Football game we all love to play. Expect this to come out once a week and follow the same format every time. It will have elements of both season-long and DFS insight so I can include everyone. I’m going to call it foresight because I don’t want to be like everyone else and use the word recap. Also in a way I am predicting the future. ENJOY!
WEEK 9 RECAP:
Player Who Scored More Than Everyone Thought They Would
- Corey Clement = 25.10 Half PPR Points
After trading for Jay Ajayi earlier in the week it seemed as though Wendell Smallwood or Corey Clement would be pushed out of relevance. But the Eagles copied the Patriots and rotated 4 backs. I would have thought Clement would be the running back pushed out but it turned out okay for him as he scored 3 TD’s. Can you imagine if all 32 teams had 4 back rotations? Fantasy Football would just be so ugh…
Player Who Didn’t Score As Much As Everyone Thought They Would
- AJ Green = 1.10 Half PPR Points
Yes I know he got ejected and perhaps that makes AJ Green being here a little unfair. But seriously, Jalen Ramsey is the best corner in the league. He literally shutdown one of the best receivers in the league at all costs. After provoking Green to get themselves ejected, it torpedoed the Bengals offense. I didn’t see Ramsey messing with Brandon Lafell…
Player Who Scored As Much As We Thought He Would Because He Is Who We Thought He Was
- Todd Gurley = 23.4 Half PPR Points
I’ve always thought the effect of a different coaching staff was very underrated in the NFL and seeing how well the entire Ram’s offense is playing has been quite amazing. Watching Gurley last year made me think he was done but having Goff go under a Dragon Ball Z like transformation has opened up Gurley’s TD Scoring opportunities to the point where Gurley might be a league winner this year.
Week 10 Waiver Wire Adds Judged on a scale of Sigh, Meh, Eh, Gotta Get Him
- Josh Gordon CLE WR (Sigh)
Very mediocre waiver wire week. Josh Gordon is supposed to return to the Browns Facility this week. Who know if that means he’s going to be able to practice, if he’s in good enough game shape, or if he’s just going to get suspended for a failed drug test on Thursday. The only reason I put him on this list is because somewhere in the very back of my head I am picturing Kizer doing the thing he always does which is hold the ball for forever and chuck it deep. Back in 2013 Josh Gordon thrived on simple fly routes so maybe this is something? Kind of?
- Ryan Fitzpatrick TB QB (Meh)
Seriously, this a bad waiver week. There are worse streaming options and him being recommended as an add does have a lot to do if Mike Evans wins his appeal to play this week or not. Slight tangent… After AJ Green got shoved down to “instigate” the fight, he horse collared Ramsey just as much as a surprise as Mike Evans supposedly blindsided Lattimore. TELL ME HOW IT MAKES SENSE THEN THAT MIKE EVANS GETS SUSPENDED AND AJ GREEN GETS A FINE. JUST BECAUSE I HAVE EVANS ON MY SEASON LONG SHOULD NOT MAKE THIS OPINION BIASED. Who were we talking about? Oh yea Fitzpatrick. Start him if Evans wins his appeal this week. Yeesh…
- Corey Clement PHI RB (SIGH)
This isn’t the first time this year Corey Clement has been relevant. It seems as though the Eagles prefer him over Smallwood in their red zone passing down situations for whatever reason. Ajayi and Blount are never going to be pass catchers so someone is going to be their receiving back and if you’re in a very deep 42 team PPR league I definitely think Clement is worth a look.
DFS Stud To Build Your Team Around This Week
- Leveon Bell PIT RB
There are a bunch of cheaper guys who will work this week and have good match ups. Zeke (If he plays), Fournette, Gurley, and Mccoy all seem like high floor plays with great potential. Even though Bell is the highest priced back I do feel like he gets more than ten touches then the next guy and from a DFS perspective its easy to see how that can translate to 2 TD’s and a lot of yards.
Sneaky DFS Play This Week
- Carlos Hyde SF RB
Wherever you play DFS he should not be priced to high and in every game that the Niners have kept close he has been in borderline RB1 territory. The Niners are favored by less than two points against a Giants team that shouldn’t have to much potential of blowing the Niners out a no run game script. Also, Did you see how he had 9 catches last week. That’s crazy! It’s sometimes cool to see how coaches use different personnel to fit their schemes. Devonta Freeman/Tevin Coleman are such different players than Carlos Hyde and yet we still see him catch 9 balls in a game. 9 catches!!! It really is crazy!!!
