Week 10 was filled with high scoring affairs that led to really high scoring performances. LET US BEGIN!
WEEK 10 RECAP:
Player Who Scored More Than Everyone Thought They Would
- Cam Newton = 35.66 Points
I don’t think its a big surprise that Cam had a big game but there were some factors that would’ve suggested him not scoring THIS much… The Dolphins had been a pretty stout defense all year that had been an underrated part of their surprisingly high 4 wins this year. Also this was the second game without Kelvin Benjamin. But just like 2015 all Cam needed was to acclimate to a life without his best receiver and we saw the same Cam from his MVP year. I thought that the Saint – Bills game was the most dominant blowout this week but after seeing Cam break off a 69 yard TD run right up the middle I think it’s hard to judge which one was more lopsided. If this is a beginning of a trend than everyone who owns a piece of the Panthers should hold on nice and tight for a fun ride after their bye.
Player Who Didn’t Score As Much As Everyone Thought They Would
- Denver D/ST = -3 Yahoo Standard Scoring Points
This one might not be to shocking seeing as though it was against the Patriots. However New England was coming in without one of their most consistent scoring threats in Chris Hogan and this team pretty much did anything they wanted to do. They beat down the Broncos so bad that Dwayne Allen scored. I feel like that’s funny because you know… that’s their third string TE. I really wasn’t expecting Allen to score. Like really.
Player Who Scored As Much As We Thought He Would Because He Is Who We Thought He Was
- Larry Fitzgerald = 16.3 Half PPR Points
Larry Fitz has had everything go wrong with his career after Warner retired and it amazes me how consistent he has been with the likes of Drew Stanton throwing to him. He’s going to be 35 next August. 35!!! That’s way to old to be catching 10 balls. Is that a bit age-ist? Whatever, it’s amazing.
Week 11 Waiver Wire Adds Judged on a scale of Sigh, Meh, Eh, Gotta Get Him
- Jamaal Williams GB RB (Meh)
Williams was very close to being a sigh but due to the fact that he will be guaranteed volume that makes picking him up less bad. The gameplan for Green Bay against Chicago was definitely to run a more balanced attack and that led to all the RB’s for GB to get 35 collective touches. 20 of those going to Williams. Hard to find volume like that on the wire.
- Austin Ekeler SD RB (Sigh)
In case anyone was curious, I made my judging scale based off the fact that picking up someone off the waiver wire usually sucks. I mean most people have backups and handcuffs on their bench, and the waiver wire is where someone unproven has a good game due to someone better getting injured or being ineffective. It’s like a pity party. Who was I talking about again? Oh yea…
If Ekeler doesn’t fumble at the end of the game then this is definitely an Eh but seeing as those Ekeler was effectively benched to the depths of the Chargers doghouse after the fumble, it’s just not a good feeling.
Also he is a change of pace back for a team that has a very good running back in Melvin Gordon. So I mean pick him up if you want too. Ugh I hate the waiver wire.
DFS Stud To Build Your Team Around This Week
Leveon Bell PIT RB VS TEN
This guy is just so consistently sweet. Like slow honey dripping down. It just keeps dripping and dripping. Seriously I’m so happy that for the first time in what feels like forever there is finally a stud RB that is just good. The past couple years has been a drag for having the #1 overall pick in snake drafts and for DFS purposes if you need to go to war with someone then Bell is your guy. Sneaky tidbit, the Titans have allowed a reception to every RB they’ve faced except D’Onta Foreman. So talk about “floor” am I right?
Sneaky DFS Play This Week
Adrian Peterson ARI RB VS HOU
Depending on where you can get him for cheap, he’s not a bad volume play. Any game that has a chance to be close or tied I would like to assume Peterson is in line for a 20+ carry workload. Nothing says close game like Vegas saying that this game is a pick em. Like I said, if you can find him cheap. Don’t pay full price. Just please don’t.
