Week 12 had a lot of good teams play really well and a lot of good players score a lot of points. It was one of those weekend where a lot of outcomes came out a lot of chalk. I also used a lot of the phrase “a lot” in this paragraph.
I think because of how easy to predict this past week was it is time to just assume the Chargers are going to lose to the Browns this week. ON TO WEEK 13
WEEK 12 RECAP:
Player Who Scored More Than Everyone Thought They Would
Blaine Gabbert ARI QB = 18.34 Fantasy Points
Blaine Gabbert keeps the narrative alive that revenge games truly exist. It is not as if Blaine Gabbert scored a lot but the Jaguards defense missing Jalen Ramsey was still a formidable defense that had allowed only 3 quarterbacks before to score more than ten points against them. Bruce Arians did talk up Gabbert when they got him which definitely seemed a bit out of place and potentially Gabbert may end up being the 2018 starter. His schedule gets really tough going against LAR, TEN and then @WAS so he might not be a streaming option. I also hope no one really thinks I believe in revenge games…
Player Who Didn’t Score As Much As Everyone Thought They Would
Kareem Hunt KC RB = 3.1 Half PPR Fantasy Points
Kareem Hunt looked like an MVP candidate the first few games of the year. What the heck happened?! I’m just going to blame Alex Smith because everyone always blames Alex Smith for everything. Even though they keep using him. But seriously, is Hunt injured?
Player Who Scored As Much As We Thought He Would Because He Is Who We Thought He Was
Julio Jones ATL WR = 44.8 Half PPR Fantasy Points
I loooove putting Julio here because Julio is great and if anybody doubted him at anytime this year then I NEVER WANT TO SEE YOUR FACE AGAIN. Just kidding. I can’t drive away any more of my readers. Julio Jones showed that when he is healthy is has the trophy for the craziest physical freak in the league. The Atlanta offense seems to picking it up lately after 30+ points in back to back games and perhaps the Falcons OC Sarkisian has finally tapped into the fact that he has an unbelievable and dynamic play maker in Julio. Julio owners should rejoice! This might be the beginning of Julio carrying you to your ships.
P.S. = I don’t even own Julio in any season long leagues this year and I gushed about him this much. Imagine if I owned him. I’d probably have to delete my Antonio Brown article…
Week 11 Waiver Wire Adds Judged on a scale of Sigh, Meh, Eh, Gotta Get Him
Peyton Barber & Jacquizz Rodgers TB RB (Eh)
If Doug Martin is unable to go then these two can fill in while Martin is out. The TB coaching staff seemed to integrate Barber into their gameplane even while Martin was healthy so I would go with Barber of Rodgers. In season long leagues you should look for someone with higher upside rather than these weekly fill-ins though. You know since I started to do these foresights there really has not been that many good waiver adds…
DFS Stud To Build Your Team Around This Week
Alvin Kamara NO RB
I thought that this section would be owned by Gurley and Bell for the rest of the season but until Kamara slows down it’s to just not ride him til it cools down. His efficiency numbers are off the charts and I would like to think that at some point the Saints start to slightly increase the workload towards the Kamara side rather than Ingram. Kamara is probably cheaper than some of the the other stud RB’s and should get you a potentially high ceiling return.
Bruce Ellington HOU WR
Since Will Fuller has gotten hurt Ellington has been averaging 7 targets a game. A boom or bust WR that gets that kind of volume might go off against a TEN secondary that allowed the likes of Brandon Lafell have a good game as a secondary receiver.
